Keeping pace with technology has always been a part of the H.G.C.L. philosophy. In the early 1980’s when the first versions of Computerized Estimating Software became available H.G.C.L. was quick to purchase these new “Tools of the Trade”. We have been upgrading the systems and training regularly ever since.

Company Background

The Company was established in 1912 by Harry Griffiths.  Thus H.G.C.L. has been part of the Toronto Construction scene for over 90 years. Harry’s son Bill then ran the company for with his son Jerry and daughter Naomi joining the team.  Mel Prowse started working for the company in the 1960’s and after advancing within the firm he, along with Naomi and a third partner, purchased the company.  In the early 1990’s Mel became the sole owner.  Continuing in the family tradition in 2005 Mel’s son Al became Company President following more than 25 years of service with H.G.C.L.
